Christian Fellowship Ministries International was formed and founded by James “Jim” Driskell in March 1989 in San Antonio, Texas. After taking a course similar to this one Brother Jim was led by God to pursue the calling of Christian Education. After he completed a 10-course program, recruiting students began.

In the beginning the home base for operations was Full Gospel Chapel with the blessing of Pastor Gray. The first five students took the 10-course program. Once off the ground it grow quickly. Students are located in the United States and in some of the third world countries, including close to 300 prisoners.

In January 2002, Brother Driskell went to be with the Lord. The staff and volunteers of CFMI greatly miss Brother Driskell. On January 24, 2002 the board of directors of CFMI met and unanimous voted Reverend Douglas A. Shoemaker as the new President of CFMI. Doug had been working with Brother Jim in the Bible School since 1995 and has written courses for the bible school. The transaction to the new President as well as a new location went well . The school is presently running smoothly. With the skills of many volunteers all courses are now available for e-mail transmittal. Of course for those that are in prison and those without e-mail the lessons can still be mailed.
